Konstantyn Boyajian

Creativity runs through the blood of Konstantyn Boyajian. From his early childhood he was inspired by the craftsmanship of family members who were jewellers and in particular by the artistry of his sculptor father. At the tender age of 14 he began to experiment and create his own pieces of jewellery becoming fascinated by the beauty and intricacy of the work . At just 18 he took his first steps into the horological world when he was employed by Anastasios Stephanides & Son Ltd , Cyprus , distributor of Patek Phillip , Vacheron Constantin and Rolex. This new direction captivated him and Boyajian began to familiarise himself with the various watch brands and their unique qualities.

Working within the family business for the next five years Konstantyn continued to develop his knowledge and skills as a watchmaker concentrating in particular on the unique qualities of vintage watches. However his hunger for knowledge and love of his craft lead him on a a journey of discovery that was to take him first to the heart of the watchmaking industry in Switzerland where he attended WOSTEP (the world famous Swiss watch making school) and then onto the UK where he worked for TWG ltd (Breitling UK) restoring vintage Breitling chronograph watches. His chronological path from here on takes him from the UK in 2004 back to the home of watchmaking in Switzerland . Working firstly as watch maker and on prototypes for Christophe Claret SA in Le Locle . Projects here included Occhio for de GRISOGONO, Minute repeater with Automats for BOVET and flying Tourbillon. Later working independently from his own  Le Locle based atelier he crafted Tourbillon for Girard-Perregaux and Dimier whilst continuing to expand and share his knowledge of Minute Repeaters, Tourbillons and Chronographs. In 2007 he moved to Geneva to work alongside the hugely respected Pierre-Michele Golay at the Franck Muller Group. Here as Chef D’atelier he developed prototypes of 8 Days power reserve simple movement, Tourbillon movement, Mystery tourbillon movement and Minute Repeater tourbillon movement.

Adding to his expertise with two further courses in master turning at WOSTEP and the ‘Solidworks’ course in Micro Engineering back in the England the erudite Boyajian returned to Cyprus in 2009 a master of his craft.

Now with his own Boutique-Atelier in bustling central Nicosia, his 18 years of horological experience are at work developing new products, presenting seminars and teaching on complications and watch making on both simple and complicated movements. Having learnt from the best , the best now come to Boyajian who lends his support and expert eye to amongst others Frank Muller in Cyprus and Rolex in Romania . Wether working as a consultant for Chronolink S.R.L or restoring elite timepieces such as Patek Phillip, Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet and Rolex, he and is now very much in demand and undoubtedly considered the most respected independent watchmaker in Cyprus.

Konstantyn’s belief is that “Every watch has value and is an extension of their owner” and matches watches to their new owners with the skill and expert eye of a bespoke tailor . His Boutique-Atelier Konstantyn Boyajian at 20 Vasilissis Freiderikis, Nicosia , has the Boyajian stamp all over it , slick , stylish and immaculate – testament to his passion . With an eye to the future and an insatiable thirst for horological knowledge Konstantyn continues to push the boundaries and hopes that the future face of watches will bear the Konstantyn Boyajian name .
